“His mercy endureth forever.” The refrain describes the love of God. The Hebrew word for God’s Love in OT is directly untranslatable into English; it refers to God’s making a covenant by grace and mercy and keeping faithful to that covenant so that the recipients of the covenant can absolutely trust God to do what He says and keep His promises. The Word is translated: mercy, lovingkindness, steadfast love, faithful love, eternal love, constant love, faithfulness. The student cannot understand the God of the OT until he has some concept of the Hebrew word, “chesed.”
The Lord be praised: for creation of space (Heaven and earth) and time (sun and moon); for rescuing and defeating enemies and giving the land; and for providing for all people. Past space and time are expanded to the present space and time where I live today, and the present space and time will be expanded to cover the entire future and beyond. God’s love guarantees total deliverance from sin, death and devil, constant provision and protection, and perpetual peace and rest in the Promised Land of the Kingdom of God. The saving and keeping love of God is Total and Eternal. “O give thanks….”
