- 57. Judge, Lawgiver, King will Save
Isaiah 33:22 For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king: He will save us.
The Lord God is in Himself all three branches of government rolled into one: judicial, legislative, and executive. He is the Absolute Monarch. And there is no challenge, appeal, or demonstration that can alter His laws, His decisions, or His purposes. This Almighty, Omnipotent, Sovereign, Absolute King saves us. There can be no doubt about the power of God to save us from Sin, Death and the Devil. The victory is sure, certain, final and finished. If God saves us we are saved. Of this promise there can be no doubt.
The fascinating truth, however, is that God did not use unmatched power, military might, or unquestioned authority to save us and set us free from the Enemies. The power of salvation is exercised in weakness, humility, service, suffering, unconditional love, and death on a cross. The Gospel is the power of God unto salvation. The Gospel is the judicial decree of the Supreme Court: “You are saved, you are forgiven, you are free.” This is the Law of the Land. The Gospel is the legislative authority of Congress that makes a New Law, overcoming and destroying all the legal demands of the Law that were against us, condemning us, and making us guilty of infinite sin against an Infinite God. The New Law: “Your sins are forgiven; you are saved.” The Gospel is the President that executes the decree and makes it active and effective in our lives. The Gospel enforces the Truth that sets us free and makes us secure forever. It gives eternal life and salvation.
Our judge, lawgiver and king is now in charge of our lives and our eternity. And Jesus is in charge of our salvation. He works out all things together for our good. When He says, “Trust Me!” we can really trust Him. The power announced in the Gospel is the power of love. Love is the strongest force in the universe. God loved us like this: He gave His Son.
