Promise in the Prophets 430: The Lord will Save

430. Lord will Save

Zechariah 9:16 And the Lord their God shall save them in that day as the flock of his people: for they shall be as the stones of a crown, lifted up as an ensign upon his land.

God promises to save His people in that day. “In that day” is the Day of the Messiah, when Jesus the Savior comes to save us from Sin, Death, and the Devil, and to save us for God, life, and good works. He saves us as the flock of His people. He saves us as a shepherd saves, protects and provides for His flock of sheep. Once He has saved us then He must keep us, maintain, nourish, and fix us up. Salvation belongs to God; He does all the work. He makes us a people under His care in His family. We don’t take the promise of salvation for granted, but we believe in it, live in it and enjoy it.

We, the saved ones, will be the stones of a crown. Each one of us, and all us together, are jewels in the crown of life. The crown is placed on Jesus’ head, and that crown is full of beautiful jewels. Think about this promise: you are a stone in the crown. Each saved person is a jewel, a diamond, a pearl of great price. Jesus humbled Himself, bled and died, and rose again to save the pearl. He saved us with a great price to earn for us a spot in His crown. See yourself as a stone in the crown, a jewel, a pearl of great price; believe the promise and you will think differently of yourself.

We are lifted up as an ensign on His land, or His kingdom. We are, with Jesus, high and lifted up like a blazing flag or emblem in the kingdom of God, so bright and high that everyone can see each one of us. We are “ensigns’ that rally people to us as we let our light (which is Jesus in us) Shine and they glorify God. We may never underestimate our significance and importance to God. By ourselves, without God, we are utterly insignificant, but in Christ we are precious and valuable and brilliant.
