Human Response 419: Inquire of God

1 Samuel 9:6, 9 And he said unto him, Behold now, there is in this city a man of God, and he is an honorable man; all that he saith cometh surely to pass: now let us go thither; peradventure he can shew us our way that we should go….(Beforetime in Israel, when a man went to enquire of God, thus he spake, Come, and let us go up to the seer, for he that is now called a Prophet was beforetime called a Seer.)

When dealing with certain issues it is a good response to inquire of God. Saul’s father, Kish, had lost his donkeys and sent Saul to find them. Saul and his servant searched everywhere, but could not find them. Saul’s servant said they should go to the man of God, Samuel, and ask him to show the way. When they found Samuel, he told them the donkeys were found, but stay a while. As it turned out, Samuel anointed Saul to be king over Israel.

We may think that circumstances “just happen” to us, but God can use common occurrences to lead us. Many situations are divine appointments designed to shape our lives. We may trust the Lord to guide us in the way we should go, and we may ask the Lord and He will show us the way. Jesus is our ever present Prophet to whom we may go. He may lead us into an even greater purpose than simply “finding our donkeys.” It begins with trust when we ask, seek, and knock.
