Psalm 36:7-8 How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings. They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house, and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.
The lovingkindness (chesed, undeserved mercy) of God is extremely excellent. And because this is true humans can respond with trust under His protection and blessing. God is so good. All creation, animals included, are under His care, and that goes especially for people, the crown of Creation. If God cares for the birds and the lilies, how much more for you.
We have the promise of being abundantly satisfied with fatness, and made to drink of the river of God’s pleasures. This promise includes material blessings, but more importantly, the spiritual pleasures from God’s heart. These come in abundant measure. Abundance means more than we actually need. Romans 8:32: “He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not with him graciously give us all things?” God is even more generous and extravagant than we imagine. We can trust our father in heaven.
