Psalm 61:7-8 He shall abide before God for ever: O prepare mercy and truth, which may preserve him. So will I sing praise unto thy name for ever, that I may daily perform my vows.
The king shall abide forever before God. He will preserve mercy and truth to preserve him. Therefore, I will sing praises to His name forever. David himself is the king who will live forever before God. It is also a veiled reference to King Jesus, who lives forever.
And those who believe in Jesus will live forever before God and sing praises forever to His Name. This is our response to the mercy and truth which God gave us to preserve life. Jesus is mercy and truth. John 1:14: “The word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the father, full of grace and truth.”
Once we have received Him and His Eternal Life, we praise His name forever without end. What will we do in God’s eternal kingdom? Sing praises, for we will be so full of joy and love it must be eternally expressed. Meanwhile, while we still live in this mortal coil, the life of God in us sings praises day and night. The Christian life is one of continual abiding in Him and praising Jesus.
