HumanResponse 938: Pray for Mercy in my Helplessness

Psalm 109:21, 22, 26 But do thou for me, O God the Lord,, for thy name’s sake: because thy mercy is good, deliver thou me. For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me….Help me, O Lord my God, O save me according to thy mercy.

”I am weak, but He is strong.” When I am poor, needy, and wounded, I turn to the Lord and ask for help. I expect Him to help, save and deliver me because of His mercy, not because I deserve it, but simply because of God’s mercy, which is shown to us in the person and work of the Son of God.

First, I admit that I am poor, needy, wounded, and I need help and salvation. Then I trust in the mercy of God, Jesus. And for Jesus’ sake He helps and delivers and saves. God does not help just because I ask, but because of Jesus. God is merciful and kind; He sent mercy to us in His Son. We need, we ask, we receive. All because “God so loved the world that he gave…”
